About Us

Growing Up on the Farm

I grew up watching my grandmother’s hands work magic in our farmhouse kitchen, turning fresh-picked vegetables into meals that brought our family together. As a third-generation farmer in the Midwest, I learned early that good food starts with good soil.

Today, I tend 15 acres of land that’s been in my family for over 80 years, growing everything from heirloom tomatoes to crisp apples in our small orchard.

My Kitchen Philosophy

I believe cooking should be approachable, seasonal, and deeply connected to the land. Each recipe I share has been tested countless times, both with ingredients from my garden and store-bought alternatives, because I know not everyone has a backyard garden.

My kitchen isn’t fancy – it’s a practical space with well-worn cutting boards and my grandmother’s cast iron skillet that still makes the best cornbread you’ve ever tasted.

From My Garden to Your Table

Every morning starts in my garden, where I pick what’s ripe and plan meals around nature’s timing. I’m a firm believer that the best recipes adapt to what’s available.

Through Recipe Flames, I’m sharing not just recipes, but the practical wisdom I’ve gathered over decades of growing food and cooking for people I love.
